Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is Edible Map?
Edible Map is an online, publicly available database that collects scientific data describing relationships between foods, their metabolites, proteins/genes involved in human phenotypes/diseases, and drugs. Foods can interact with many genes/proteins through ingredients. A primary goal of Edible Map is to advance the understanding of the effects of food on human health at the molecular level. The database integrates information from multiple sources, linking food data from "FOODB" to other relevant databases such as "HMDB", "Uniprot", "OMIM", "CTD", and "DrugBank". Edible Map supports a wide range of search/browse functionalities, allowing users to perform a query. Data in Edible Map is provided to enhance knowledge and encourage progress in the scientific community, and is to be used only for research and educational purposes. Any reproduction or use for commercial purposes is prohibited without our prior express written consent. Edible Map is being developed at Tabriz University of Medical Sciences as part of a Ph.D thesis.
Who can use Edible Map?
Edible Map is a comprehensive multi-omics database that integrates information on food components, diseases, drugs, and molecular interactions. It is designed to help researchers, clinicians, and data scientists explore the complex relationships between foods, disease progression, and drug responses.
How to perform a search?
Users can search Edible Map using multiple keywords: food name, metabolite name, target protein name/gene symbol, phenotypes/disease, and drug name.
What can you browse?
Users can view the content of Edible Map from the Food Browse section (listing foods by their metabolites), the Metabolite Browse section (listing metabolites by their food sources), the Protein/Gene Browse section (listing proteins/genes by their associations with metabolites), or the Disease Browse section (listing diseases by their associations with food, protein/gene, or drugs), or the Drug Browse section (listing drugs by their associations with food, protein/gene, or diseases).
